Originally introduced around September 2005 for Steiff collectors in the US only, Crystal was retired just a few months later in December 2005. She was commissioned just for the US and not for Europe and has very special features, which make her stand apart from other Steiff bears throughout their history.
This gorgeous Swarovski Bear, aptly named Crystal is 11 inches tall and made of beautiful fluffy white mohair. She is a five ways jointed teddy and proudly wears a brilliant Swarovski Xilion stone as her "Button in Ear", the famous trademark of all Steiff bears. However, whilst every other Steiff bear throughout the ages has a traditional button, Crystal's is not a button, but a very sparkly Swarovski Crystal, making her rather special indeed.
Crystal also wears an amazing Swarovski Annual Edition Crystal Star on a red ribbon, which is a collector's item in itself. These Christmas Stars have been known to increase in value over the years too, making Crystal very appealing indeed, whether you are collect Steiff bears, bears in general or Swarovski Crystal (or a combination of all three).
Crystal is the second in a short series of these special Steiff bears and her production was limited to the calendar year 2005. Each bear is individually numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, with a matching unique number. She is packed in a special display box and makes an ideal gift for someone special.
