Delivery/Shipping Information

Delivery rates are calculated by weight.

Prices start at £2.50 for UK deliveries, or even free of charge for several items. International rates start at £3.50. Each item is allocated a weight value, so adding items to the order will increase the weight of the order, which is cross referenced to our table of delivery rates. However, for larger items in particular, we have set the weight at a much lower value, so that the true delivery cost is not charged to you, but subsidised by us.

Orders less than 2Kg are sent by Royal Mail. Our delivery rate includes the destinations England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Orders over 2Kg are sent by couriers. Our delivery rate includes the destinations England Wales and Mainland Scotland. A surcharge is made to the certain postcodes in the areas generally referred to as 'Highlands and Islands' and an individual rate will be calculated for you, if you contact us first. As it is calculated on weight, we will need to know the order details and your postcode.

Orders within Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Cardiganshire and West Glamorgan are at a special flat rate of £4 and delivered by our own vehicles, so may be subject to a longer delay in getting to you. If you are in urgent need of your order, we suggest you choose the 'UK Mainland' delivery option in the checkout and we can send by couriers.

Orders to International destinations and under 2Kg are sent by Airmail.

Orders to International destinations and over 2Kg Royal Mail will only deliver up to 2Kg, so any orders over that will have to be individually quoted for and sent by couriers or often as a split consignment under the same terms. We cannot send liquids, flammable items and other products restricted by international courier terms. You will be responsible for any Customs duties and fees when they arrive, should that be the case in your Country.

Alton and Robinson Greenhouse deliveries are organised direct with the manufacturers. Upon receipt of your order, we will receive an acknowledgement from them, with an estimated delivery date, followed by an actual delivery date when the time gets closer. At each stage we will keep you informed and upon early notification, can change the date to a more convenient one, as necessary. An estimated delivery period is between 3 to 6 weeks, according to the time of year and other factors.

Alton & Robinsons accessories must be ordered at the same time as a greenhouse to qualify for any discounts available at the time. We regret that Alton charge a delivery charge for accessories when ordered individually, hence we do not show the delivery rate on our website. Should you require accessories for an existing greenhouse, please ask for a delivery quote.

Halls Greenhouse deliveries are organised direct with the manufacturers, who will contact you direct to arrange delivery. Accessories must be ordered at the same time as the greenhouse, or an additional delivery fee will be charged by Halls, even if items are added before delivery is actually made. Not fair, we know, but it is their policy unfortunately.

Kayak deliveries are organised direct with our supplier. Our delivery rate includes delivery to England, Wales and Scotland (excluding 'Highlands & Islands', where an individual quote will be made for you). We do not send internationally for this product range. We do keep stocks of kayaks on our premises for collection, we just arrange deliveries to come from our supplier, as they have negotiated a better rate with their couriers than we have!

Kayak accessories will either be sent direct from or supplier or from our stock, so may arrive separately to a kayak order.

Calor Gas and Camping Gaz deliveries are no longer delivered by ourselves, unless ordered with a gas heater/cooking appliance and even then, for delivery within Pembrokeshire only.

Sheds and Garden Building deliveries are made by our own transport within Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Cardiganshire and West Glamorgan. Nationwide delivery is not always possible, unless we have a supplier who can deliver direct.

Garden Cabin deliveries are made direct by the appropriate supplier, a similar arrangement as Alton and Halls above.

Postal Strikes - In the event of postal strike, we will normally send out packages when the postal strike is over, in short term scenarios. We can offer an alternative delivery, via couriers, but with their rates usually starting at over £6 per packet, we cannot absorb this cost and must ask for additional payment, should you prefer this alternative arrangement. However, we have heard of a system whereby packages are left at drop-off points around the country, to be delivered to other drop-off points, such as certain chains of 'corner shops' for you to collect from. From the reports we have received, it works, but staff are not always knowledgeable, so delays can occur in picking up the item or at the destination point. Should a postal strike occur, we will investigate this method further.

All packages are sent insured and by the best method we see fit. Where stated, delivery times are an estimate only. If time is of the essence, please let us know and we will endeavour to fulfill your order in time. There may be occasions where an additional delivery charge is made, in order to get your order sent out by a quicker method. This payment must be made in full before orders are despatched.
